1952-1969

S1 E1: On 6th February 1952, Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne. With the country in the grip of postwar austerity and coming to terms with its fading imperial power there were question marks over the future role of the monarchy. Sixty years on and she has overseen Britain's transformation to a multicultural, multimedia nation.
