Season 2012/13 will live long in the memory for all Crystal Palace fans. Having been made favourites for relegation before a ball had been kicked in August, by May the Eagles had lifted the Championship Play-Off trophy at Wembley Stadium to seal their return to the Premier League. Even a mid-season change of manager couldn’t prevent Palace’s march towards promotion, as Ian Holloway steered his side to a fifth-place finish – and ensure a play-off meeting with arch rivals Brighton and Hove Albion. After seeing off the Seagulls on a glorious night at the Amex Stadium, Kevin Phillips’ penalty against Watford in the final allowed Mile Jedinak and company to climb the famous Wembley steps and reach the promised land.
