Zen is the product of a liaison between her Thai mother and a Japanese gangster, who isn't even aware that he has a daughter. As she grows up she is diagnosed as being autistic, and the condition has enabled her to become a superlative martial arts practitioner. So, as she embarks on a quest to recover debts owed to her gravely ill mother, the movie offers a succession of eye-catching, bone-crunching set-piece fights.
