The Book of Love

When Penny, the light of Henry’s life, is killed in a car crash, he puts everything on hold as he tries to come to terms with his loss. When his bereavement leave is over, everyone expects straight-laced Henry to return to work. But now everything has changed and Henry is not going back. Before Penny got in the car the day of her death she asked Henry to keep an eye out for Millie: an extraordinary vagrant girl she’d seen collecting plastic bottles and other scraps around their neighbourhood. At the time, Henry agreed just to indulge his wife, but this promise soon becomes his last remaining connection to Penny and nothing else matters. He finds Millie and discovers that she has a secret project: she’s building a raft to sail to across the Gulf of Mexico in the hope of starting a new life on a far off tropical island. Though initially hesitant to let him help, Millie eventually relents and they become an unlikely team. Henry finally starts to live and laugh again, following a brand new course.
