Unfinished Business: The Story of the Open 2017
Historic, dramatic and often unpredictable. The 146th Open will forever be remembered as one of the very best. At Royal Birkdale, Jordan Spieth battled his own game and the elements to realise a lifelong dream and become the Champion Golfer of the Year. In doing so, he became the youngest player in the sport to win three major championships as he moved closer to the career grand slam. Spieth was not the only story at Birkdale though. The ever-popular Matt Kuchar made a valiant bid for his first major championship, cheered on by his legion of loyal fans. Branden Grace made history with the very first 62 at a major championship. Rory McIlroy reminded the world of his incredible talent, whilst Mark O’Meara said goodbye to The Open at the place where he won the Championship 19 years ago. From start-to-finish, Spieth led the way, re-writing the history books with a performance reminiscent of another former Birkdale winner, Arnold Palmer, as he became the youngest American winner of the Claret Jug.
