Florentine Lahme

American audiences will most likely recognize the beautiful German actress Florentine Lahme from her appearance on all thirteen episodes of ABC's 2009 science-fiction series "Defying Gravity." In her native Germany, however, Lahme has appeared on a steady stream of television programs. She got her start in 1997 when she joined the cast of "Beloved Sisters," a daytime soap opera on German television that revolved around a group of student nurses at a hospital in Berlin and their perpetually stormy love lives. After leaving the show, Lahme continued to find plentiful opportunities on German TV, and in 2002 she landed the role of Valery Crämer on the series "Star Catcher," a family drama set primarily on the coast of Germany's Lake Constance. Lahme then experienced a change of pace (in terms of genre, at least) when she joined the cast of the action series "Special Unit," appearing on the show in 2007 and 2008. After so many prominent roles in her homeland, a stint on American television was pretty much inevitable. On "Defying Gravity," she portrayed Nadia Schilling, a German astronaut participating in an international space mission in the year 2052. Although she show was canceled after one season, the science-fiction drama granted Lahme exposure to the largest audience she had experienced yet.
