James S. Levine

James. S. Levine is an American soundtrack composer who is best known for his work on the Fox musical series "Glee." Levine's first credit was for scoring the low-budget independent feature "A Little Inside" in 1999. In 2003, Levine scored the documentary "Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie," a look at Southern comedians, as well as "The Challenge," the last of teen actors Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's straight-to-video features. Levine also scored his first major Hollywood production in 2003, supplying a comic score for the remake of the comedy film "The In-Laws." Levine moved heavily into television scoring in 2003, crafting a highly ambient score for the popular FX drama "Nip/Tuck." In 2005, Levine co-composed with Hans Zimmer the music for the Gore Verbinski drama "The Weather Man." Zimmer founded the film music company Remote Control Productions (formerly Music Ventures) that once employed Levine. Levine added another hit program to his resume when he supplied the score to the TNT's cop show "The Closer." In 2007, Levine began scoring FX's law show "Damages" and in 2009 began his most music-centric program yet, Fox-TV's musical comedy series "Glee." Levine has won three BMI awards.
