Ncuti Gatwa

Actor Ncuti Gatwa first rose to prominence with a charming performance in an endearingly awkward comedy series. Born in Rwanda, Gatwa's family left to Scotland during the Rwandan genocide, in 1994. After graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, with a Bachelor of Arts in Acting, Gatwa made his TV debut in 2014 with a cameo on the sitcom "Bob Servant" (BBC4, 2013-), starring Brian Cox. He followed this up with a two episode arc on the miniseries "Stonemouth" (BBC Two, 2015), based on the popular mystery novel by Iain Banks. Gatwa's breakout role came when he was cast in the series "Sex Education" (Netflix, 2019-) as Eric Effiong, an openly gay high schooler from a religious African family, who is best friends with Otis (Asa Butterfield) and awkward virgin whose mother (Gillian Anderson) is a world-renowned sex therapist. The show premiered on Netflix in January of 2019 to rave reviews, and in February of 2019, a second season was announced.
