Tobias Truvillion

Tobias Truvillion was an American actor who was best known for his recurring role as D-Major on the popular music drama "Empire" (Fox, 2015-). Born and raised in Flushing, Queens, Truvillion began his career in entertainment as a professional model for the Ford agency. Throughout his professional modeling career, however, Truvillion dreamt of becoming an actor. He finally acted up on his dream in 1999 when he enrolled in classes at the National Black Theater of Harlem. He soon began honing his acting craft by appearing in numerous stage plays in New York. With his stage acting career on the rise, Truvillion began auditioning for film and TV roles. In the early 2000s he landed some small parts in the films "Paid in Full" (2002), "Harlem's Beauty" (2003) and "Death of a Dynasty" (2003), before nabbing his first big break in 2006 with a recurring role on the daytime soap opera "One Life to Live" (ABC/Hulu, 1968-2013). Truvillion played Vincent Jones on the series from 2006 to 2008, appearing on 85 episodes. After his run on "One Life to Live" ended, Truvillion nabbed supporting roles on films like "Brooklyn's Finest" (2009), "Persons of Interest" (2010), and "Nous York" (2012). In 2015 he landed a recurring role on the TV mini-series "Flesh and Bone" (Starz, 2015), which was set in the world of professional ballet. Then in 2016 Truvillion nabbed his breakout television role when he began playing D-Major on the Fox music drama "Empire." Truvillion played D-Major on 11 episodes of the series. In addition to his part on "Empire," Truvillion continued nabbing film roles. In 2017 he appeared in three films: "Dope Fiend," "Secrets," and "Bobbi Kristina," the latter of which was a TV movie based on the life of the late daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. In 2018 Truvillion joined the cast of the BET legal drama "In Contempt" (BET, 2018-).
