Tom Daley

In 1994, in Plymouth, England, Tom Daley was born to dive. He won a medal in the 8/9 year old division at his first competition, the 2003 National Novice Championships. In 2004 he became the youngest winner of the National Junior 10m title. In 2008 he became the youngest winner of the National Senior title and competed in the individual and synchronized 10m events at the Beijing Olympics. At the age of 15, Daley won the 10m platform competition at the 2009 FINA Diving World Championships. In 2011, Daley's father died due to complications from a brain tumor. At the 2012 London Olympics, he was literally, the UK poster boy, with an 80-foot poster of him adorning a department store in Cardiff. There were high hopes for the phenom in the 10m synchronized platform competition first day of the games, but disappointing dives kept him and his partner out of the final round. The miscues resulted in the arrests two British men who published abusive and threatening messages on Twitter. On the final day of the games, Daley competed in the individual 10m platform event, and barely made it into the final round, where he finished with a Bronze medal in dramatic fashion. In 2013, he premiered as an expert adviser on "Splash!" (ITV, 2013-14), a reality show where celebrities learned how to dive. The show earned the highest ratings in its time slot in the premiere season, but couldn't maintain its audience and was cancelled after the second season. In 2015, Daley won his fifth individual 10m platform National Championship.
