A Greek hitman smuggles into Britain a sniper rifle with a range of two miles. After he kills a police officer who stops him for speeding, a hidden compartment in an abandoned stolen car alerts CI5 to a high-profile assassination plot.

A US senator is shot dead in front of several motorists. To draw out his killers, Cowley submits a newspaper story claiming they were recognised. But the paper also prints the names of the witnesses, putting them in grave danger; fearless operative Tony joins Bodie and Doyle to try to reach them first.

A gang of mercenaries rob a bank, escape by plane, and parachute out: an operation designed to impress a gangland boss whom they then coerce into hiring them. The capture of their ruthless leader becomes a personal quest for ex-mercenary Bodie.
