Renowned, record-breaking British explorer Ed Stafford returns in brand new series, ‘Ed Stafford: Into the Unknown’, as he sets out on a quest of a very different kind, seeking the truth behind mysterious satellite images of Earth’s most remote locations. Each episode is inspired by an image taken from space which shows strange and inexplicable markings in unexplored and remote locations around the globe. Ed believes the only way to truly understand what's going on is to travel to these desolate locations, what geographers and the military call ‘Ground Truth.” Stafford criss-crosses the planet in such locations as Ethiopia, Brazil, Zambia, West Papua and Siberia, to find out for himself what these mysterious markings are. But, that’s just the endgame of Ed’s adventure. Travelling to the most extreme places on Earth and relying on his skills of exploration and survival, Ed also realises he will need to draw on local expertise and hospitality if he is to reach his target. From sickness to dangerous wildlife, Ed encounters some setbacks along the way as he ventures into the unknown.
