Robot Wars launch show presented by Dara O Briain and Angela Scanlon. Eight fighting robot teams battle it out to get past the initial group stage to progress into the mini-league of the head-to-heads. The most famous team in fighting Robot history, Razer, makes a long-awaited appearance.
In this show we see the huge axe of Robot Thor driven by Jason, a builder from Northampton, clashing with father and son team Will and Ian from Team Shockwave. A consultant Cardiologist and his two sons cause a huge upset as their brand-new untested robot destroys much of the competition. Judge Sethu Vijayakumar discusses his work with NASA in creating androids for the Mission to Mars.
We see an eclectic collection of home-made robots including Glitterbomb, designed by nine year old April, which comes complete with a huge pink axe. In a Robot Wars first, a team of students bring a robot made of wood with a petrol engine and what appears to be an outboard motor for a weapon. Family team Big Nipper have an ingenious robot with interchangeable titanium weapons made up of parts they sourced from their local scrapyard.
Former Holiday camp Bluecoats try to flip two of the House Robots with their 'launcher' Apollo. Father and Son team Kan-Opener have a robot with huge piercing claws. Engineering students have created a future tech machine called Sweeney Todd that moves using mecanum motion to allow them to go in any direction around the arena, and PP3D has been built using a lot of 3-D printed parts.
Featuring one of the most bizarre but certainly the tallest robot ever seen on `Robot Wars', Gabriel, built by Mensa member Craig and his three sons. It has wheels as tall as a washing machine and a huge samurai sword. Other robots include Thermidor shaped like a lobster by a team who have never eaten lobster. Pulsar built by 19-year-old self-taught engineer Ellis and features nine thousand RPM spinning teeth. There are dramatic scenes as one of the robots bursts into flames in the arena.
The final episode in the robot fighting series presented by Dara O Briain and Angela Scanlon. In this show the heat winners come back to fight. The judges must choose one Wild Card from the runners up to join them. There are many shocks and surprises along the way as every team left standing battles it out to make it to the grand final of Robot Wars.
