Afghanistan: The Wounded Land

In the 1960s, Afghanistan is a peaceful country, the capital Kabul like a European metropolis with fancy hotels and fine restaurants. Hippies from all over the world flock to the country in search of cheap drugs and exotic adventures.

In 1979, Afghanistan is invaded by the Soviet army. Several Afghans call for a holy war. This is the start of what many call the Soviet Vietnam War. Featuring insight into the guerrilla war.

The Soviet army left Afghanistan, but the war between Mujahideen commanders continued. The country fell into chaos until a new force emerged: the Taliban.

As a result of the terrorist attack on New York, Afghans are now facing a new war as the US Army moves in to overthrow the Taliban. Despite everything, millions of Afghans greet the foreign troops with hope.
