On her way home from school, shy Miki encounters a classmate named Aya who insists on taking her around town to see the sights; when they come across Midori, their class rep, they follow her to a gaming store and discover a new way to have fun.
The girls play an insect-themed bluffing game with an eccentric boy who is more preoccupied with gaining favour with his secret crush, Aya, than actually winning the game.
The girls play a game at Aya's house and are introduced to her sister and her sister's best friend, a brash girl whom Miki nervously recalls meeting in a traumatic childhood incident.
Midori declines an offer from student council vice chair Ren to join the council, but when Ren refuses to take "no" for an answer, Midori challenges her to a card game to determine who will get their way.
The trio take a holiday to a beachside inn where Miki's aunt works, but when rain threatens to ruin their fun, they stay indoors and play a game of goita; an antsy young boy joins their game and Miki discovers they have something in common.
Midori becomes defensive when a popular game designer from the U.S. offers to play test her game, and her worst fears come true when Miki and Aya have some complaints after trying it.
