Castle Howard: Through the Seasons

A year in the life of Castle Howard, from spring through to Christmas. It's spring, and Easter is the first big weekend of the Castle Howard calendar. But post-pandemic, it's vital that Nick and Vicky Howard capitalise on the 'Bridgerton bounce'.

It's summer, and early July sees Nick Howard dusting off and struggling to fire up the 1959 family Bentley for the first big event of the summer: a classic car show. And as the drought sets in, strange markings are revealed in the lawns.

September sees feverish activity as the estate prepares to host the International Sheepdog Trials, but when the Queen's death is announced, the castle must close for mourning.

It's Christmas, and while Charlotte Lloyd Weber and Adrian Lillie stage lavish fairytale-inspired installations throughout the house, it's all hands on deck for the Great Hall's grand centrepiece.
