You Yi is a famous author during the early years of the Republic of China. One night after an upsetting accident, she receives a letter from a fan who claims to have seen her husband with another woman.

After learning the truth, You Yi is devastated and desolate. However, she tries to maintain her calm and decides not to confront her husband. Instead, she sets out to quietly change her life, but finds it to be harder than she anticipated.

Hong Mei, the little girl who delivers milk to Yan Wei's shop, goes missing. After asking around, Yan Wei finds out she was hit by a car that ran away. A witness also tells her about a man who stopped after the accident.

You Yi helps Yan Wei escape the police station amidst the fire. Detective Jiang finds the connection between the two murders and You Yi suspicious and decides to question her. Meanwhile, You Yi's in-laws are also giving her trouble.
