Gabby Douglas, the 2012 Olympic All-Around Gold Medalist, sets off on a journey to defend her title at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Gabby's close-knit family is her support system as she tries to conquer what no American gymnast has ever accomplished. The first hurdle on Gabby's Road to Rio is to make the National Team at the P & G National Championships.
Now that Gabby has made the National Team, training intensifies as she prepares for the next step, which is to make the World Team. This home-schooled elite gymnast heads to LA for her high school graduation day, but the trip does not go as planned.
Sensing Gabby's loneliness as she intensely trains in the gym day after day, her sisters make a trip to Ohio for a much-needed girl weekend. Since Gabby has no time to date, the sisters come up with an idea to get Gabby a different kind of companion.
Gabby's next step on the Road to Rio is to make the World Team but before she leaves for the gruelling selection camp, her family travels to Ohio with a plan to give Gabby exactly what she needs.
The family makes final preparations to send Gabby off to camp so she can compete for a spot on the World Team. As Gabby vies for a coveted World Team spot at the ranch in Texas, her family anxiously awaits good news in LA.
Gabby competes in Scotland for one of the two American spots in the Finals at Worlds. She needs to be on the podium in Scotland to prove that her comeback is real and that she's ready for Rio.
