Hide And Seek

Special investigators Varta Naumova and Max Shumov are assigned to a child abduction case when a little girl disappears during a game of hide and seek, the first of several children to mysteriously vanish in a small industrial town.

Boronko's mother-in-law admits that she asked Pure's pastor to remove Alina from the apartment. A video is released online that shows Alina holding a mysterious sign. Varta and Max follow a lead to a cult-like church and identify a possible suspect.

Another child is missing. While working at the scene, Varta has a meeting with a journalist who starts digging into her past. The kidnapper calls the missing boy's mother and demands a ransom.

The journalist publishes an article with some details of Varta's private life. However, the story, which is fed to public opinion, slows down and hinders Varta and Max's ongoing investigation.

Varta works out the meaning of the numbers in the videos and is reinstated as detective. She and Max find evidence that give them the identity of the kidnapper, but are distracted by another breakthrough.

To gain valuable information, Varta goes undercover in a women's prison. The kidnapper abducts Varta's daughter. Investigators are forced to re-examine the case of Svyrydov's missing daughter.
