Peter, Katy and her son John arrive back from their first holiday together. As they unpack the car, they are in for a surprise. They must come to terms with the loss of their luggage and the arrival of something that will change their lives forever.

Sami is now an official asylum seeker. Despite what Peter thinks, Katy is determined that Sami should stay for as long as he needs to, and since it is her house, Peter cannot really object.

Sami is now settling in and has made contact with his family who are in Berlin. Meanwhile, John gets into a fight at his new school, and Peter has his worst prejudices about Sami confirmed.

Things are tense as Sami awaits his interview at the Home Office. Katy decides to distract him by getting Sami to present a talk at the school. In return, Sami decides to clear the air with Peter and takes Katy and John to the refugee centre.

Things are still tense between Sami and his wife Yasmine, who has now claimed asylum in Germany. And some smug Germans arrive from Berlin to try and persuade Sami to join Yasmine.

Sami is desperate to make a good impression at his Home Office interview but questions if Britain is really where his heart lies. And Peter needs to make up for lost time with Katy and John.
