A headstrong, 13-year old girl, Tulip, gets stuck on a mysterious train, where every carriage contains its own universe. She meets a small robot named One-One and upon entering the next car, they discover it is a grid containing numerous cubes.
Tulip strikes a deal with a cat in an attempt to get home, but she ends up doubting whether or not the price is worth the cost.
After Tulip and One-One explore a carriage full of corgis called Corginia, they must find a way to fight against a mysterious monster that has been terrorising Corginia for a long time.
Tulip, King Atticus from Corginia and One-One enter a crystal forest carriage, where the door to the next carriage is on the side of a mountain. They discover that they must take part in a musical ritual in order to get the staircase to appear.
The gang encounters the Cat, who reveals that she has a tape with Tulip's name on it, which forces Tulip to face her past.
The gang enters an unfinished train carriage that contains logic-defying houses without walls, as well as turtle people led by King Aloysius III. They end up trying to fix the car in order to help fix the universe.
