Jimmy Doherty's New Zealand Escape

Travelling from the frozen south to the tropical north, Jimmy Doherty explores New Zealand. He learns to gravity-fish on Stewart Island, visits a women-only deer farm, and discovers superb whiskey at New Zealand's oldest distillery.

On the scenic road to Christchurch, Jimmy stops for some sensational crayfish at Nin's Bin, the world's first food truck. And third-generation crayfisherman Johnny Clark takes Jimmy out to see his pots.

Jimmy helps to bring in a harvest of sea clams before heading to a vineyard where birds of prey protect the grapes from scavengers. Later, he heads to New Zealand's capital, Wellington, where the locals want all the rats to leave the city.

In Auckland, Jimmy meets incredible market gardeners, mixes it up with the godfather of fusion food, milks a buffalo, and concludes his journey at Cape Reinga, the spiritual launching point of Maori deceased towards their ancestral homeland.
