Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure

Strictly star Kelvin Fletcher has bought a 120-acre farm in the Peaks. With no experience, he sees his stress levels quickly rise, and then a maggot-infested sheep foot sends him over the edge.

Rookie farmers Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz buy their first livestock, a flock of rare breed Cotswold sheep. It's shearing season, and Kelvin wants to find out if he can make a quick return on his investment by selling their fleeces.

Kelvin has ambitious plans to buy more livestock as soon as possible. He wants to start breeding pigs for meat with a view to selling directly to local businesses. He has heard that some rare-breed pigs are for sale locally, but motor racing season has just started and he has to attend an important training session away from home. In his absence a reluctant Liz must buy the piglets and bring them safely back to the farm.

Despite a growing workload on the farm, Kelvin and Liz have entered three of their rare-breed Cotswold sheep into the Ashbourne Show, which is now only a week away. If they can win a coveted rosette, they could increase the value of their flock.

Kelvin and Liz must make their toughest decision so far: deciding the fate of one of their male lambs. Having been castrated, he is of no use to them for breeding, so Kelvin wonders whether it is time to take his first trip to the slaughterhouse.

The summer is drawing to a close. Kelvin and Liz have come a long way with their farm, but all their hard work has come at the cost of their social life. Despite moving to the Peak District six months ago, their only friends are neighbour Gilly and her husband Jack. To make some inroads into the local community, they decide to hold a farm-warming party, but when word gets out among the villagers, they get more than they bargained for.
