Medici: Masters of Florence

Cosimo is forced to take control when his father, Giovanni, dies suddenly; his first action is to take over the family bank.

War throws Florence into chaos, and Piero, Cosimo's only son, is anxious to join the fight, but Lucrezia, the boy's mother, tries to prevent him from going.

An outbreak of illness sends the family to the country, but Marco chooses to stay in Florence, despite the danger.

Cosimo is accused by Albizzi of wanting to become a dictator in the city, and is put on trial. In an attempt to get out of jail, Cosimo tries to bribe a member of the Signoria.

Circumstances continue to go downhill in Florence while the family remains in exile, and Albizzi takes control of Florence.

The family returns to Florence in triumph, and Albrizzi winds up in prison for trying to take over the city.
