World War II U.S. Army Gen. George S. Patton Jr. and his soldiers embark on the road to Germany by invading North Africa Nov. 8, 1942, in the face of opposition by pro-Nazi French forces.

Patton whips a humiliated US unit into shape after defeat at Kasserine Pass, leading them into the Battle of El Guettar and declaring victory in North Africa by 1943.

Patton leads one of the biggest assaults of WWII as the Allies invade Sicily. But his attempt to push inland is met by a surprising counter-attack from Italian tanks.

Patton ignores orders and pushes into the Sicilian capital without his British allies. Then, he slaps two of his soldiers, risking his chance of ever commanding troops again.

Marred by recent misconduct, Patton is assigned to a fictitious army as part of a ruse to fool the Germans. He then leads one of his famously fast armoured attacks.

Denied a complete victory at the battle of Falaise Gap, Patton heads on to liberate Paris. But his glory is stolen again when the Free French Army enter the city first.
