Modest teacher Vasiliy is caught on camera raging over the political situation in his country. When a pupil posts the video on Youtube, it goes viral and Vasiliy becomes President of Ukraine.

Vasiliy awakes from a Greek philosophy dream to spend his first full day in office. His family are now fawning all over him and his newfound power - all except his sister, who arrives at the family home oblivious to recent developments. While his sprawling team of staff and assistants prepare him for his inauguration, shadowy forces start doing their research on him to find out who he is.

Vasiliy prepares his speech for the inauguration with a range of vocal exercises. Stand-ins play out the presidential figures he will have to meet, while he takes his son to ride a merry-go-round with a huge protection team in tow. Later that day, Abraham Lincoln appears in a vision and offers sage counsel. He finally arrives at his inauguration in a modest taxi and remembers a conversation he had with his students back in class.

Vasyl is about to start his first day in office, but the outgoing president has barricaded himself inside the office and refuses to come out. Vasyl must use all of his diplomatic experience as a history teacher to solve the problem.

During his search through various files, Vasyl discovers alarmingly large expenses of the administrative apparatus and the ministers. Therefore, he submits a bill that removes the privileges of MPs.

Vasyl wants to bring far-reaching reforms through parliament. Among other things, all MPs should work on the outskirts of the capital. But in order for the MPs to approve the law, he must come up with a compromise.
