`The Bisexual' is about the "last taboo" - bisexuality - exploring the judgement and shame that often still accompanies it in 2018, and how difficult it is to come out as bisexual in the gay community. Set in London, New Yorker Leila, played by series creator Desiree Akhavan, is on a break from her 10-year relationship with girlfriend and colleague Sadie, played by Maxine Peake. Leila moves in with author Gabe, played by Brian Gleeson, and explores her sexuality and begins sleeping with men. However, she is reluctant to identify as bisexual to those around her, particularly her best friend Deniz, played by Saskia Chana. Sadie, meanwhile, is making the most of her newfound independence and entering a period of massive changes in her life.
