The Mafia Kills Only in Summer

10 year-old Salvatore falls in love with his new classmate named Alice, while Salvatore's father is a witness to a murder orchestrated by the Mafia.

When Salvatore realises that Alice's boyfriend has not died, he decides to ask her out. Lorenzo hopes his family can move to a new house but comes up against the construction industry Mafia.

Salvatore discovers the dark side of Palermo when an anti-mafia journalist comes to his school to talk about his work and is murdered soon after. Lorenzo's mortgage application is turned down.

Uncle Massimo has an idea to change their fortune and the family travel to Ficuzza to convince their grandpa, Tore, to sell some land but Tore refuses as the land hides an awful secret.

Salvatore has a diary, but mainly writes about the Mafia, so Pia and Lorenzo decide to take him to a psychoanalyst. Meanwhile, Lorenzo is also worried about the consequences of a promotion.

Salvatore's sister, Angela, has a new boyfriend, Alfonso Puccio, but unfortunately Alfonso's father turns out to be a front man for the Mafia. Salvatore decides that it's time to declare his love.
