Part 1

Irish stable boy Rory falls in love with Rachel, the daughter of an English lord. However, he then joins the Irish rebels who want to drive out the English and is increasingly put into the line of fire.

Rory flees to America and finds a job in Rachel's uncle's gunpowder factory in Philadelphia. His sister Deirdre and Rachel also come to Philadelphia where they try to build a new life together.
EPISODE 3

Part 3

After the American Civil War, Rory rebuilds the gunpowder factory together with his brother-in-law Caleb. Secretly, he tries to support the Irish rebels with gunpowder and has to deal with some strokes of fate.
