Nella travels to Amsterdam to permanently relocate after her marriage to a wealthy merchant. Nella receives an elaborate doll house for her wedding, as she attempts to fit into her new family.

Episode 2

Marin confesses to Nella how she has been hiding her pregnancy, and Nella faces danger and turmoil as Johannes is accused by the Amsterdam authorities. Meanwhile, her relationship with the Miniaturist becomes ever more mysterious and disturbing.

Nella decides to sell the sugar on her own in order to try and save Johannes. She also discovers a secret door hidden inside her doll-house that resembles on in the Miniaturist's workshop.
