The Tattooist of Auschwitz

Heather meets Lali, a survivor of Auschwitz, who tells her his extraordinary life story of love and survival in the concentration camp.

Lali takes a huge risk to see prisoner 4562 again, inadvertently putting her in grave danger.

Fearful for Gita, Lali takes a chance while at the hospital with new tattooist Leon and performs an unspeakable task in exchange for medicine. Meanwhile, revisiting Lali's memories begins to take its toll on Heather as she navigates his trauma.

Desperate to save Lali from the torture of the punishment block, Gita pleads for Cilka's help. Heather keeps struggling with the weight of Lali's story, and it creates a turning point in the development of their relationship.

Gita discovers a pregnant Esther and rallies everyone to help her, but the ultimate sacrifice is Mrs. Hoffmanova's. Amid chaos in the camp, Lali says goodbye to Gita as the women are marched out; he leaves days later but is soon captured by Russians.

With no idea whether she's alive or dead, Lali escapes the Russians and heads for Bratislava to look for Gita. Nearing the end of his story, Lali reveals his darkest secret -- a shameful request to support Baretzki in his war crime trial.
