Woking, 1905. A mysterious capsule lands in Horsell Common near Woking. When George and Amy join the curious crowd to examine it, the unleashing terror turns their lives into a nightmare.

With George and Amy separated and the Martian invasion gathering pace, they face their own terrifying ordeals. Desperate to be reunited, a lifeline comes to them at the beach.

The survivors seek refuge in an orphanage and Amy manages to reunite with Ogilvy. They begin work piecing together the details of the invasion, looking for the key to the Martians' weakness.
