Tamika Scott

Actor, R&B singer and songwriter Tamika Scott was born in Atlanta. Her interest in music started at age four, when she would sing in special events. During the early 1990s, Scott became one of the founders of the R&B group Xscape. Their debut album, "Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha" (1993) was a critical and commercial success and it got certified platinum within a year. The group's songs went on to appear in the soundtracks of the movies "The Mask" (1994), "Panther" (1995), "Love Jones" (1997) and "Soul Food" (1997). After two more successful albums, the group went into a hiatus in 1999. A new attempt to get the group back together happened in 2004, but Xscape officially disbanded a year later. Around the same time, Scott made her debut in television in the series "Meet the Browns" (TBS, 2009 - 11) and later made a special appearance in R&B Divas: Atlanta (TV One, 2012 - 14). Xscape reunited again in 2017 to play the Essence Festival and shoot a TV special. Scott went on to release solo singles and perform on her own.
