Mika, born Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr. in Beirut, Lebanon, was a pop singer known for his flamboyant performances and distinctive voice. Raised in a multicultural family, he spent his early years in Paris and London, which influenced his eclectic musical style. He received classical music and voice training from the Royal Opera in London and Russian soprano Alla Ablaberdyeva, later attending the Royal College of Music for a time.
