Art Baker

Art Baker was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Baker's earliest roles were in film, including the comedic fantasy "Once Upon a Time" (1944) with Cary Grant, "Abie's Irish Rose" (1946) and "The Farmer's Daughter" (1947). He also appeared in the drama "The Beginning or the End" (1947) with Brian Donlevy and the drama "Daisy Kenyon" (1947) with Joan Crawford. He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties, appearing in the drama "The Walls of Jericho" (1948) with Cornel Wilde, the Louis Hayward spy thriller "Walk a Crooked Mile" (1948) and the William Bendix mystery "Cover-Up" (1949). He also appeared in "Night Unto Night" (1949) with Ronald Reagan. Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the Gregory Peck western "Only the Valiant" (1951), "Artists and Models" (1955) with Dean Martin and the Nico Minardos crime feature "Twelve Hours to Kill" (1960). He also appeared in the Walter Pidgeon adventure "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" (1961) and the biopic "Young Dillinger" (1965) with Nick Adams. Baker last acted in the action picture "The Wild Angels" (1966) with Peter Fonda. Baker passed away in August 1966 at the age of 68.
