A middle-aged hippie lives on an island of the East coast with his teenage daughter Rosie. Living the simple life, they are close but as Rose reaches maturity, Jack realises their life is too cloistered and invites his sometime lover Kathleen and her two teenage sons Rodney and Thaddius to join them. However, his decision leads to tensions and conflicts that threaten to break up the island idyll.
