Drone DR1
A viral epidemic has eliminated 90% of the world’s population. Those that are immune to the deadly disease struggle to survive in a dangerous post-apocalyptic world where scavengers and thieves run wild and where mysterious energy pellets are the new currency. The only technology that still works are the pilotless, programmed drones, originally designed to deliver vaccinations for the lethal disease. These autonomous machines fly through otherwise quiet skies and are hunted for their parts and power sources by gangs that feed on the wreckage of what’s left of the world. Amongst the survivors is a 16-year-old boy named Kitch, whose father worked on a cure for the virus and is widely thought to be responsible for the outbreak. Kitch believes his father is dead but when he stumbles across a drone that is different from any he has seen before, clues about his lost father begin to surface. Kitch starts to believe his father is still alive and that the unusual drone, DR1, will lead him to him. Kitch takes to the road, following DR1, in the company Maya, the runaway niece of local gangster, 4C. When 4C realises that his niece is missing, he sends his thugs to retrieve her and DR1. Kitch and Maya have to somehow stay alive as the drone leads them across a desolate and destroyed world toward an uncertain destination. Was his long-absent father responsible for the outbreak? Is he really the true monster that Kitch has come to see him as?
