King Kong
Available on STUDIOCANAL Presents, iTunes
Within uncharted regions of the South Pacific, a ruthless oil executive and his crew are on an expedition. Their mission is to find unexplored territory in the hope of exploiting its resources. What they find is the legendary Skull Island. Upon arriving on its shores they discover a strange and primitive world of mystery and danger. It is a place very few explorers have managed to survive, nor return from to tell the tale. Legend has it that on those very shores the natives worship a giant ape-god named Kong, a wild and savage beast that can only be appeased by human sacrifice. One of the first "event movies", this 1976 reworking of the classic monster-adventure story was the most expensive film ever made, on its year of release. Starring Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange, in some of their earliest feature film roles, it also features an unforgettable score by legendary composer John Barry and Oscar winning special effects by Carlo Rambaldi (E.T. the Extra - Terrestrial, Alien).
