Imhotep, an Egyptian high priest, is buried alive for trying to restore his beloved princess to life. Now disturbed by archaeologists, his spirit takes on the guise of museum curator Ardeth Bey. He sees in scientist Helen Grosvenor the incarnation of his lost love and sets out on a trail of death and destruction to have her join him in the afterlife.
