Benjamin Malaussène, the oldest of a large family from different fathers, has a strange job. He's a professional scapegoat in a department store. One day, odd events occur everywhere where he happens to be, attracting the police's attention. With the help of an intrepid journalist, Aunt Julia, he investigates.
