They Died With Their Boots On

Film following General Custer from his days as a brash young cadet at West Point via his commands in the Civil War to the famous Last Stand at the Battle of the Little Big Horn in 1876. Custer's marriage is touchingly portrayed, the plight of the Indian acknowledged with considerable sympathy, and the battle scenes have a real epic sweep. A none-too-faithful but nevertheless rousing portrait.
