Peggy's family hosts lunch for a new priest in their church. Don and Betty enjoy a family weekend together. Freddy and Ken take a client out to lunch who stirs Roger Sterling's heart. Sterling Cooper staffers work double time to prepare for a last minute pitch meeting.
Don is brought in to save the day for a PR campaign involving the building of the new Madison Square Garden, only to have the rug pulled out from under him. At home, Betty argues with her brother over care for their sick father.
In the mid-season finale, Don is troubled by a letter and Peggy considers a new future based on a risky venture. Meanwhile, Pete and Cutler butt heads and Roger receives a phone call.
On the weekend of the John F Kennedy assassination, Pete finds out that he lost the promotion to Cosgrove, Roger Sterling's daughter's wedding goes off as planned, and Betty musters up the courage to respond to Don's confessions.
Roger denies financial backing to his daughter, Margaret, and her husband; Margaret tells Roger not to come to Thanksgiving.
