Selina becomes obsessed with the nicknames given to her by bloggers and, after being snubbed from a briefing, assigns Dan to get White House intel. Later, Dan's political manoeuvring puts the Clean Jobs bill on the line.

Faced with a trumped up story of a rift between the Veep and the First Lady, Selina quells accusations that everything is about her. Gary selects candidates for the VP dog but Selina's daughter Catherine gets final say.

With D.C. in the midst of a government shutdown, Selina is forced to furlough some of her staff, whereas Danny Chung takes advantage of the shutdown. A damaging story leaks about Selina's ex-husband Andrew, and Gary and Jonah go on a run to retrieve Selina's trash.

Undeterred by a message that POTUS wants Selina to limit her public appearances, the Veep continues her plans. Meanwhile, Dan attempts to play both sides of the Selina/Danny Chung rivalry.

A dramatic incident in the White House leaves the president shaken but Tom James' comments at a Q&A make her day even worse. As Mike tries to sell the press on Selina's Families First bill, Dan and Amy find themselves at a lobbying event for the concrete industry.
