Great Expectations

Pip, an orphan yearning for a greater lot in life, has a chance encounter with escaped convict Magwitch that sets him on an unexpected path and into the clutches of the mysterious, eccentric Miss Havisham, who shows him a dark world of possibilities.

While Pip continues his education with Miss Havisham, he grows increasingly attached to her daughter, Estella; in the city of London, the corrupt and powerful lawyer Mr. Jaggers gets a letter that will change Pip's life forever.

Having left his life in Gravesend, Pip has a brutal introduction to London, working for Mr. Jaggers; Estella discovers a plan of Miss Havisham's.

As London life begins to take its toll on Pip, his work for the brutish Mr Drummle, under instruction from Jaggers, brings Estella shockingly back into his life in an unexpected way.

As Joe tries to save his friend from a life of excess, an old and unsuspected danger comes back to threaten Pip, while Estella must fend off a new suitor in the form of Mr Herbert Pocket.

As Pip and Jaggers' plans come to a head, Miss Havisham finally comes face to face with her demons, and Estella at last tries to break free after a family revelation.
