Hannah Brockway (Evelyn Keyes) has a perfect fiancé in Dr. Sam Martin (Willard Parker). Sam, who is respected by Hannah's family, is a noble man who cares for her and can make a good living in their frontier town. Yet Hannah craves adventure and finds it when she meets dashing Ben Dembrow (Larry Parks), the youngest of a notorious crime family.
