Hugo Plays the Bass
Hugo Plays the Bass is an original, poetic and personal film about one of the greatest Danish jazz icons, Hugo Rasmussen. His career spanned over 50 years and he recorded more than 1000 records. He jammed and played with some of the world’s greatest jazz musicians such as Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon and last but not least Cornelis Vreejswik. This documentary follows the last two years of Hugo’s life up until his death in August 2015. The viewer will experience Hugo’s incredible warmth, charm and passion for life. A passion not even his doctors could reduce, when they informed him of his disease.
