Maia Wilson

A powerhouse featured performer on Broadway throughout the 2000s, actress and singer Maia Wilson drew accolades for her performances in "The Color Purple" and "Book of Mormon" before making her theatrical film debut in the Oscar-winning "Frozen" (2013). The former Atlanta, Georgia resident made an auspicious debut as one of the Church Ladies in "The Color Purple" before enjoying the spotlight in the Broadway and touring productions of "Rent" and "Shrek the Musical." A favorite among musical theatergoers, Wilson earned her biggest audience to date by voicing the troll Bulda, who leads the show-stopping number "Fixer Upper," in "Frozen." Wilson's well-loved presence on stage and the astonishing success of "Frozen" seemed to indicate that Hollywood was the next destination for this talented performer. A 1997 graduate of Atlanta's Spelman College, Maia Nkenge Wilson made her Broadway debut in the musical adaptation of "The Color Purple" in 2005. Her soulful vocals and presence soon made her a regular presence on the Great White Way, with appearances in "Rent," "Shrek the Musical," and the original productions of "9 to 5" and the Tony-winning "Book of Mormon." Between Broadway assignments, Wilson also performed in "Smokey Joe's Café," the second national touring production of "Rent" and was featured in the Atlanta productions of "Menopause The Musical," "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "The Color Purple." In 2013, she provided the voice of Bulda in "Frozen," a spirited troll showcased in the song "Fixer Upper," which extols the virtues of the film's reluctant romantic hero, Sven (Jonathan Groff), to its determined heroine, Anna (Kristen Bell).
