Hera Hilmar

Hera is an Icelandic actress who can currently be seen in Steven Knight and Francis Lawrence’s Apple TV+ series, SEE and will soon be seen starring in Asa Hjorleifsdottir’s REPLY TO A LETTER FROM HELGA, as well as Hilmar Oddsson’s DRIVING MUM which won Best Film at Tallinn’s Black Night’s Festival. Previously, Hera starred in Baltasar Kormákur’s THE OATH, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to much acclaim. She is the central lead in Universal’s epic franchise MORTAL ENGINES, written and produced by Peter Jackson. Hera gained international notoriety in the Icelandic feature LIFE IN A FISHBOWL, which not only swept the Icelandic Edda Awards, but was also the country’s Academy Award entry for Best Foreign Language Film. For her performance, Hera won Best Actress of the Year, and was further awarded the prestigious Shooting Star Award at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival. Some of her other recent credits include the Discovery Channel miniseries HARLEY AND THE DAVIDSON’S and the lead in AN ORDINARY MAN opposite Sir Ben Kingsley, THE OTTOMAN LIEUTENANT opposite Michiel Huisman and again Sir Ben Kingsley, the independent feature ALLEYCATS, GET SANTA starring Rafe Spall and Jim Broadbent, Joe Wright's ANNA KARENINA, and THE FIFTH ESTATE starring Benedict Cumberbatch. She starred in Matthew Weiner’s limited anthology series, THE ROMANOFFS. Having trained at LAMDA drama school in London, she broke on to the small screen as one of the leads in the Starz series DA VINCI'S DEMONS.
