John Taylor

John Taylor was born in England and discovered his love of music as a young teen. In 1978, Taylor and a friend from school, Nick Rhodes, formed the band Duran Duran along with Stephen Duffy. Taylor began with playing guitar for the group, and later switched to bass guitar. Andy Wickett joined the group, and Roger Taylor (no relation) joined as drummer soon after. Over time, the band went through member changes. Taylor worked on a side project with the band Neurotic Outsiders, recording and touring with them for a few months. They released an album in 1996 and Taylor left the group. Duran Duran had several songs featured in films such as "Space Riders" (1983), "Tequila Sunrise" (1988), " My Blue Heaven" (1990) and "Moji" (1997). In 1985, the band recorded the theme song for the film "A View to a Kill." In 1997, Taylor announced that he was leaving Duran Duran. He had done some solo work, including recordings. In 2000, Taylor was asked if he would consider a Duran Duran reunion, which did end up happening. The group released more than five albums after the reconciliation. Still popular, they had songs in additional films such as "Donnie Darko" (2001), "Take Me Home Tonight" (2011), "Ready Player One" (2018). Taylor was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. In 2022, Duran Duran were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
