A native of Stamford, Connecticut, Zach Tyler Eisen is probably best known for his role on the wildly popular 2005 television series "Avatar: The Last Airbender." Also known professionally as Zach Tyler, Eisen began acting at the tender age of four, his career getting a boost when Jay Leno glimpsed the young actor in a commercial and invited him to appear on "The Tonight Show" in 1998. First appearing in bit parts on shows such as "As the World Turns," Eisen's first steady role came in 1999 when he voiced the part of Andrew in "Little Bill," an animated series based on a character created by Bill Cosby. In 2004, Eisen began voicing Pablo, the excitable penguin in the animated musical series "The Backyardigans," and in 2005, he scored his career-defining role as the voice of Aang, the 12-year-old hero of "Avatar: The Last Airbender." 2006 found Eisen voicing the character of Lucas in the animated feature "The Ant Bully," which also featured the vocal talents of Meryl Streep and Nicolas Cage. After "Avatar: The Last Airbender" ended after three seasons in 2008, Eisen busied himself with earning high grades at Westhill High School in his hometown of Stamford, while also pursuing his passion for playing ice hockey.
